In this episode of the Package This video series, we explore five different solutions that keep pallet loads stable and secure during storage and transport. From stretch wrapping and heavy-duty rubber bands to adhesive systems that stick boxes in place, these are the tools brands use every day to minimize damage, increase efficiency, and save on costs when storing and shipping products on pallets.

Welcome back to Package This — your guide to packaging machinery and materials.

Today, let’s look at pallet load stabilization systems — solutions that keep products on your pallets safe and secure, whether your moving stacks around the warehouse or shipping pallets out for delivery. Let’s get started!

Stretch Wrappers

One of the most common ways to stabilize pallet loads is with a stretch wrapper. These machines wrap a tight layer of highly elastic film around the load to keep everything together and protected during shipping, storage, and throughout the supply chain.

Stretch wrapping systems run the gamut from rotary towers to turntables and orbital systems—each offering unique benefits depending on the load’s shape and stability needs. And newer designs focus on sustainability too — using less film and offering recyclable or even paper-based options to wrap pallets.

Pallet Straps
Next up, we have pallet strapping machines. These manual tools are like tensioners that secure loads with strong plastic or metal straps. It’s a reliable way to make sure products don’t shift or move during transport.

Stretch Hooders

Stretch hooder machines take a different approach — they cover the entire pallet with a hood of stretch film applied vertically. That gives you complete protection from dust, dirt, and moisture, while keeping the load stable from top to bottom.

Load-Stabilizing Adhesive Systems

Another popular option for load stabilization used by many operations is a non-destructive adhesive that is applied between layers of cases or bags as they’re stacked, keeping everything tightly in place during shipping—but easy to separate later. This simple solution helps brands cut down on extra wrapping materials while still keeping the load safe and secure.

Corner Posts and Edge Protectors

And finally, corner posts, corner boards, and edge protectors are found on nearly every palletizing operation. These materials offer a simple but effective layer of defense, protecting the edges of pallets that are most prone to bumps and damage during handling and transport.

We hope this look into load stabilization has given you some new insights you can put to work right away!
